The Open Books Program is focused on "affordable learning" and works with faculty to identify quality low or no cost resources for students, which allows them to focus on learning and not the expense of textbooks.

Open Educational Resources (OER) Program

Courses that use only open educational resources (OER), students can save about 40% of their costs of attending college.  San Jacinto College offers students the opportunity to complete the Associate of Arts or the Associate of Science in General Studies using only Open Books.  Students can also complete the Associate of Arts in Business Transfer using only Open Books.  In two years, a full-time students can save up to $2800 in textbook costs.  OER course texts are free and online.
