Houston's weather isn't always great for picnics, but it's just right for aspiring HVACR techs. The program prepares you for jobs in air conditioning and refrigeration. This includes residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Learn how to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVACR). Students also train in electrical systems, refrigeration, controls, and customer service.

You can start with a short-term occupational certificate. This can be done in just one semester. Then, you can enter the field or move on to advanced certificates or an associate degree.

HVACR stands for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration. It focuses
on installing, maintaining, and repairing systems that control temperature and air
quality in homes and businesses.
No. HVACR technicians may work on heating systems, refrigeration units, ventilation systems, climate controls, and indoor air quality equipment.
You’ll build hands-on skills in installing, troubleshooting, and servicing HVACR systems.
As you progress, you’ll also learn about electrical and mechanical systems, refrigeration,
indoor air quality, and system design.
Completion of a program at San Jac does not guarantee eligibility for licensure or certification.
This program leads to a license from the Texas Department of License and Regulation (TDLR). TDLR now requires applicants to provide documentation of lawful presence in the United States for both initial license issuance and renewals.
Students who are unable to provide the required lawful presence documentation will not be eligible to obtain or renew a TDLR-issued license, even if they successfully complete the program.
