Medical Radiography Admission Information
Radiographers are the eyes of the medical field. Ready to join the ranks? Learn how to perform radiologic diagnostic procedures, protect patients from radiation, and evaluate radiographic images. After earning an AAS, you are eligible for the national ARRT certification exam and may obtain a license from the Texas Medical Board.

Get Accepted to San Jac
Before you can apply to the Medical Radiography program, you will need to apply and get accepted to San Jacinto College. Once that's done, follow the rest of the steps below.

Attend an Information Session
All prospective radiography students are required to attend a mandatory medical radiography program information session. Radiography faculty and staff will provide an overview of the program and how to apply.
Find out dates, times, and locations for all of our sessions. -
Gather Transcripts
Request official transcripts from all institutions you’ve previously attended, including San Jac. You will need to submit these to the San Jac Admissions Office with your application.

Process Degree Evaluation
Next, head to your Secure Online System (SOS) account and complete a degree evaluation “What If” for AAS Medical Radiography 2024-2025. You'll need to submit this with your Medical Radiography program application.

Complete Your Prereqs
Before acceptance into the radiography program, you’ll need to earn a “C” or higher in all prerequisite classes, including ENGL 1301, MATH 1314, BIOL 2301, BIOL 2101, and RADR 1201.
While enrolled in the Medical Radiography AAS degree, you'll also need to complete general education core courses in humanities or fine arts and PSYC 2301. These are part of the degree plan. -
Complete the HESI A2 Exam
Required for all radiography and sonography students, the HESI A2 exam is a 4.5 hour timed, computerized test that evaluates your readiness for the program. Be sure to read the HESI A2 Exam Instruction Packet.

Apply to the Medical Radiography Program
After you’ve completed all steps, it’s time to apply to the program. The application periods are:
Fall semester: March 1 - May 1
Spring semester: August 1 - October 1
Summer semester: November 1 - January 17
Applications will be evaluated with our admission scoring rubric.
