“We (Still) Can’t Be Stopped: The Geto Boys and the Making of a '90s Houston Rap Classic”

Dr. Alex La Rotta is a professor at Houston Community College where he teaches U.S. and Mexican American History. An avid record collector and DJ, his work focuses on race and popular music in the U.S. and Latin America.

Professor Elgrie J. Hurd, III

Dallas College
“The Psychology & Sociology of 90’s Hip-Hop”

Over the last 14 years, Professor Hurd has traveled around the country educating educators and parents about the power of culturally relevant education. He is a faculty member in the psychology and sociology departments at the Cedar Valley Campus of Dallas College (formerly Dallas County Community College District).

Dr. Genevieve Stevens

Houston Community College
“Psychology of 90's: The trends that moved us to 21st century”

Dr. Genevieve D. Stevens has been a psychology faculty member at Houston Community College-Central Campus since 1988 and has served on numerous Central campus and district committees. Stevens serves as the co-chair for the Central Faculty Senate delegation, as well as on the HCC Faculty Senate.

Steve Davis is a native Houstonian who did all his work in history at the University of Houston. He has been a professor of history at Lone Star College-Kingwood since 1984, the year the campus opened.
